FAQ
FAQ
Where is iff coffee?
4-5-8 Minami-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo — within a 10-minute walk of Omotesando and Gaienmae stations (15 minutes from Nogizaka). We serve pour-over and espresso drinks that are still rare in Japan, and sell our own roasted beans and drip bags.
What does "iff" mean?
"iff" is short for "if and only if" — A ⇔ B, where each side is a necessary and sufficient condition for the other. It comes from a philosophy textbook the owner studied from in university, and is also a common symbol from his early coffee days. The full story is on our homepage Q&A.
What kind of coffee do you sell?
Almost entirely light-roast single origins: Colombia, Ethiopia, Peru, Bolivia, Thailand, and Taiwanese Alishan. Espresso is also entirely single-origin (SOE).
What's special about the Taiwanese beans?
Alishan has long been known for tea, and only recently began producing small volumes of rare coffee lots. We permanently carry 5 Alishan coffees (expanding to 8+), including the Grand Champion Geisha from the 2025 Alishan Elite Exchange — making us one of the few Tokyo roasteries with a permanent Taiwanese specialty coffee lineup. See the full lineup on our Alishan Series page.
What makes your brewing and roasting different?
Our owner is an SCA/CVA certified Q Grader and placed 10th at the Takao International Coffee Competition. We brew with a La Marzocco Linea PB espresso machine, Option-O Lagom 01 pour-over stand, Mahlkönig E65S grinder, a motorized PUQ Navigator WDT tool from the Netherlands, and water profiled through APAX LAB — every pour-over served in the competition-grade ASYMMETRY Cup.
