Q & A

How do I get to iff coffee roastery aoyama?

We're at 4-5-8 Minami-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo — an easy walk from Omotesando, Gaiemmae or Nogizaka stations. We serve pour-over and espresso signature drinks still rare in Japan, and sell our own roasted beans and drip bags.

What does "iff" mean?

▸ On iff as a name ◂

It's an abbreviation I kept meeting when I first fell into coffee — and the one that appeared most often in my philosophy textbooks at university.

iff.

Philosophy looks complicated and dense, but what it really trains you to do is take words you thought were plain and make them clearer, more complete.

I think coffee is the same. Every step from bean to cup looks complex and fussy, but thanks to the research and experiments of those before us, things once taken for granted keep becoming clearer and more complete.

〰︎

▸ So, what is iff? ◂

iff.

Unabbreviated: if … and only if …..

Two sides, like this:

A iff B
A ⇔ B

Loosely but precisely: A and B are each other's necessary and sufficient condition. For me, it's how you begin to truly understand a thing — and where I began to understand what I love.

What beans do you carry, and how light do you roast?

Almost everything is light-roast single origin — Colombia, Ethiopia, Peru, Bolivia, Thailand, and Taiwan's Alishan. Espresso is exclusively single origin (SOE).

What's special about Taiwanese coffee?

Alishan was long known for tea; in recent years it has begun producing small lots of rare coffee, even trying new varietals. We buy from 2024 Taiwan COE winning farms and keep five Alishan coffees on the shelf — soon expanding to around eight. We're one of very few roasters in Tokyo with Taiwanese specialty coffee always available.

Where do you ship?

We currently ship within Japan and to Taiwan and Hong Kong. For other regions, just message us.

Do you offer bulk orders or wholesale beans?

We wholesale to cafés and restaurants, and take bulk drip-bag orders for gifts and events. Reach us via Line, Instagram or the contact form.

Can I return or exchange a coffee?

If a coffee isn't to your taste, bring it back to the shop within 10 days and we'll exchange or refund it in person (taste-based returns by mail can't be accepted).

If something is off — a defect, a strange taste, the wrong item, or damage in transit — send us a photo within 7 days of delivery via Line or Instagram DM. We'll reship or refund, shipping on us.

For orders to Taiwan, we can't accept taste-based returns across the border, but defects are handled the same way as above.

Bulk orders can be changed or cancelled before shipping; after shipping, the defect policy applies.
